Step 1: Demand Action Now!

Contact your state and local election officials today
Tell them to act now to protect the integrity of our election.

>> Find your state’s Secretary of State

>> Find your local election commissioners and clerks

Call or Email:

1. Identify yourself, and the city/state where you live.

2. Ask if they will be providing election drop boxes both BEFORE and ON election day, and in how many locations. One or two is not enough – we need them throughout every jurisdiction.

3. Tell them that widely-available election drop boxes are a simple, inexpensive, secure way to make sure every vote is received and counted. Drop boxes will eliminate problems with the postal service and provide a safe, distanced way to vote in the time of Covid-19.

4. Let us know how it went. Who did you reach out to, and what was their response?

Step 2: Alert the Media

Help get the local and national media to cover this story.
We need newspapers, TV, and online media to expose the threat to our democracy, and to help promote this safe, realistic alternative.

Call, email or tweet to your local newspapers, local tv stations, and the national media. Tell them:

Voters are increasingly concerned over the flagrant efforts to hamper the US Postal Service’s ability to handle election mail, even with the expected increase in mail-in voting due to coronavirus fears.

But there is a safe and secure alternative for delivering ballots. Election experts and activists across the nation are fighting for state and local election officials to expand the use of ballot drop off boxes, These boxes —special containers where voters can easily drop off absentee ballots in sealed and signed envelopes—provide a great alternative for voters to skip the mail process entirely.

Organizations like dropboxvoting.org and democracydocket.com are attempting to mobilize citizens to push their elected officials to act now, before it’s too late.

Your coverage on this critical issue is vital to maintaining the necessary pressure so that officials will take this simple but important act to save our election.

Afterwards, let us know how it went. Who did you reach out to, and what was their response?

Step 3. Spread the Word

Please take a moment to share #DropBoxVoting with others. We need everyone in this fight!

Make voting safer and easier

  • In-person voting is looking increasingly difficult and dangerous –especially in underserved and at-risk communities.

  • Mail delivery faces active sabotage as the Trump administration attacks the Postal Service.

Demand a better way – Drop Box Voting.

In every state and jurisdiction that provides for mail-in/absentee voting, there must be plentiful secure drop boxes where people can deposit their ballots.

  • Every polling place on election day
  • Post offices and other public buildings in the days before
  • Handled directly by election workers, avoiding any risk of mail delay or interference
  • Contactless, and increases accessibility
  • Already in use in many jurisdictions

Please join the fight to expand access to this important voting method.  We need to act fast!
